The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Adventist Health Glendale is excited to open a unique training program that will provide nurses currently working in an acute care setting with the knowledge and skills necessary to take the next step in their career - the Intensive Care Unit. The Adventist Health Glendale ICU Nurse Training Program or Bridge Program combines didactic education with hands-on clinical experience and "bridges the gap" in nurses' clinical career advancement. Upon successful completion of the Bridge Program, nurses will transition into a full time position in the Adventist Health Glendale Intensive Care Unit.

Additional Program Info:
The Bridge Program is open to Registered Nurses, both current AHGL Associates and external candidates. Those hired into the program must be available for a full time schedule of training that lasts approximately 3 months. Application deadline is Friday, February 22, 2019.

The Bridge Program begins on Monday, March 25, 2019. Internal associates hired into the Bridge Program must be ready to start on Friday, March 29, 2019 when classroom education begins


 We're looking for someone to join our team as a RN who:

Delivers coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff, and coordinates care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment.


Essential Functions:

  • Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Analyzes the assessment data in determining diagnosis and care issues. Develops a plan that prescribes interventions to attain outcomes. Implements the plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Evaluates progress toward attaining outcomes. Identifies outcomes for the patient or the patient's situation.
  • Collaborates with the team of patient, family, and healthcare providers in providing patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment. Provides learning opportunities for patients/family members and team members. Directly provides health information to patients, families, and treatment team.
  • Participates in discharge planning in order to provide continuity of care.
  • Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties of healthcare team members.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


ICU Nurse Training Program Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Current California RN license in good standing with the BRN.
  • Current certifications in BLS and ACLS.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years recent experience in an acute care hospital, required.
  • Previous experience in Critical Care, Telemetry and/or Special Procedures highly preferred.
  • New Grad nurses or nurses with less than one year of acute care experience will not be considered


You'll be successful with the following qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree (BSN): Preferred


Work Experience: 

  • Acute care facility experience: Preferred


Required Licenses/Certifications: 

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
