We're looking for someone to join our team as a Chaplain who:

Provides spiritual counseling and support, in accordance with patient, family and interdisciplinary team member beliefs and desires. Communicates with and enables the clergy or faith community to support patients and families in their homes. Provides spiritual consultation and education to patients, families and interdisciplinary team members.


Essential Functions:

  • Provides pastoral care services to patients in various situations, like those undergoing surgical procedures, facing end of life issues or involved in traumatic accidents. Provides comfort and support to patient families and friends. Provides calming support to angry or distraught family members and friends. Provides spiritual visitations, public worship services and outreach services. Assesses and responds to the spiritual, emotional and cultural needs of those counseled, including crisis interventions, ethical concerns and bereavement.
  • Responds to urgent situations, including medical emergencies (Code Blue) and deaths, at the request of administrative coordinators, nurses and family. Maintains medical and personal patient information confidential. Works with individuals from diverse economic, cultural, racial and religious backgrounds.
  • Provides spiritual care and patient health services with an interdisciplinary approach. Documents visits and interventions appropriately, adhering to organizational standards.
  • Works with hospital staff to enhance sensitivity about spiritual concerns for patients and families experiencing terminal illness and loss. Conducts religious services in the hospital chapel. Accountable to the organizational mission, core vision and values.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


You'll be successful with the following qualifications:



  • Master's Degree in theology, spirituality, pastoral ministry or equivalent: Required


Work Experience: 

  • Completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education program recognized by ACPE or CPSP: Preferred
  • One years related experience: Preferred
  • Direct pastoral ministry experience: Preferred
  • Experience ministering in an acute healthcare setting: Preferred


Required Licenses/Certifications: 

  • Ecclesiastical endorsement from the chaplain's respective denomination or faith tradition: Required
  • Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) certification or College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (CPSP) certification: Required
