Located minutes from Lanikai Beach in Windward Oahu, Adventist Health Castle is nestled at the base of the beautiful Ko’olau mountain range. More than just a beautiful campus, AHCS also one of five organizations nationwide to receive the 2017 Baldrige National Quality Award.

Featuring a full-service medical center, Castle offers a wide range of inpatient, outpatient, and home-based services, with over 1,000 employees and staffed by more than 300 physicians. Located just outside of Kailua, AHCS serves all of O'ahu and is the primary health care facility for the Windward side of the island.

We're looking for someone to join our team as an Associate Chaplain who:

Provides spiritual support, in accordance with patient, family and interdisciplinary team member beliefs and desires. Communicates with and enables the clergy or faith community to support patients and families in their homes.

Essential Functions:

 

  • Provides pastoral care services to patients in various situations, like those undergoing surgical procedures, facing end-of-life issues and in traumatic accidents.
  • Engages with distraught patients, family members and staff during crisis situations, providing spiritual and emotional support. Provides spiritual guidance during times of death, fatal diagnosis and other life-changing moments.
  • Responds to requests for pastoral care in a timely manner. Participates in the offering of worship opportunities.
  • Ensures the religious and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones are met. Acts as a spiritual resource to staff.
  • Accountable to the organizational mission, core vision and values. Represents a spiritual presence and connection with the religions and spiritual roots of Adventist Health.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 

You'll be successful with the following qualifications:

Education:

  • Master's of Divinity degree or equivalent: Preferred
  • Completed four Clinical Pastoral Education Units from an accredited CPE center: Preferred

Work Experience:

  • Two years related experience: Preferred
  • Direct pastoral ministry experience: Required
  • Experience ministering in an acute healthcare setting: Preferred

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Ecclesiastical Endorsement from faith denomination: Required
  • Ministerial credentials and/or licensing: Required
  • Board certified through APC, ACI or CPSP or in process of completion within two years of hire: Required
